5 Reasons to Move to Macon
If it’s time to move on from your current place, why not consider the gem of Central Georgia?
Here are five reasons to call Macon home:
1 – A PRIME LOCATION
Macon is little more than a hour away from Atlanta and three hours from Savannah. We’re also less than four hours from Montgomery and Jacksonville. So, if you need a weekend getaway, there are plenty of great options to suit your tastes.
2 – THE WEATHER
You can get rid of those windshield scrapers of tire chains that you would need up north or out in the northside. You might not need a winter coat all that much either. The average temperature in Central Georgia is well above the national average, so you can wear shorts and a t-shirt almost year-round.
3 – WE’RE PRETTY SMART COOKIES
There are several colleges in the Macon area, which is relatively rare for town its size. Wesleyan College, Mercer University, and Central Georgia Technical College are all based here. Our primary and secondary schools are top notch too. There are actually more private schools than public schools, along with five specialized schools — including the Georgia Academy for the Blind.
4 – IT’S A LOW-KEY MUSIC CITY
Internationally-renowned acts like The Allman Brothers, Otis Redding, Little Richard, and Jason Aldean all got their start in Macon. The music scene is still alive and well at venues like The Hummingbird Stage and Taproom or Envy Nightclub.
5 – MACON IS A FILM TOWN
Movies like Clint Eastwood’s Trouble with Curve, the Jackie Robinson biopic 42, and Aaron Paul’s Need for Speed were all filmed around Macon. We also boast a cool film festival each February which features independent films from across the globe.
