Many folks attribute their fondness for Fall to the cooler weather, colorful leaves, festivals, fairs, and Halloween. That made us wonder, where are the best places to see Autumn in all of its splendor? Here’s our list of the Best Places for Fall Getaways based on sightseeing, weather, and affordability:
The mainland’s northernmost state offers a quintessential fall experience. The Autumn colors in New England are the stuff of legend and the Portland area is arguably the greatest place in the nation to view fall scenery. The Portland metro area is also home to iconic lighthouses, craft beer galore, and unrivaled seafood.
ASHEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA
If you prefer a more temperate fall with less wind, the southeastern United States has an abundance of fall foliage as well. Asheville is in a prime location for nature seekers. The city is centered between the Cherokee and Pisgah National Forests. There’s also an abundance of fall festivals, craft breweries, or live music to enjoy. Asheville’s thriving farming industry sets it apart as a destination for Autumn harvests.
